Terms of Service
By signing up for an AI for Mail account or using the service, you agree to these terms. The service is operated by Veridit AS, a Norwegian limited company (organisation number 993255076, registered address Bjerkealléen 39, 0487 Oslo, Norway). Throughout this document "we" and "our" refer to Veridit AS; "you" and "your" refer to the account holder.
1. What we provide
AI for Mail is a paid service that:
- Connects to your Fastmail account via OAuth.
- Uses AI to analyse the messages already in your inbox.
- Proposes sorting rules that you review and approve before installation.
- Lets you install those rules into Fastmail so future mail sorts itself.
- Reports on how the rules perform and proposes adjustments over time.
We do not provide an email account, email sending, email storage, or any other email-hosting function. Your Fastmail subscription is independent and unaffected by your use of AI for Mail.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use AI for Mail. You must have an active Fastmail account that you legitimately own or are authorised to administer.
If you connect a shared or organisational Fastmail account, you confirm you have the authority to grant us access to it on the organisation's behalf.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity under your account. Email hello@ai-for-mail.com immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
4. Your content, our service
The rules you approve, the UserProfile information you provide, and any AI-generated classifications attached to your account belong to you. You can export and delete them at any time per the Privacy Policy.
The service itself — the AI for Mail software, the prompts we use to query AI providers, the way those pieces are wired together, the AI for Mail name and visual identity — is the proprietary intellectual property of Veridit AS. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for managing your own Fastmail account(s). It does not give you any right to copy, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or use the service to build a competing product.
Veridit AS reserves all rights not expressly granted. Future open-source releases of parts of the service, if any, would be governed by a separate licence and would not affect the proprietary status of the components retained.
5. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use AI for Mail to process email you do not have the right to access.
- Attempt to circumvent the rate limits or fair-use caps of your subscription tier.
- Reverse-engineer the service, scrape the prompts we send to AI providers, or otherwise attempt to extract proprietary parts of the system.
- Use the service to send spam, harass others, distribute malware, or for any purpose prohibited by Norwegian or EU law.
- Resell access to AI for Mail or operate it on behalf of third parties without a separate written agreement.
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.
6. AI-generated output and rule preview
The classifications and rules our AI produces are best-effort suggestions. They will sometimes be wrong. Before any rule is installed in your mailbox, we show you a concrete preview of its effect so you can judge from real examples rather than from the abstract rule text:
- Match count — how many existing emails in your inbox the rule would apply to ("this rule would move 4,317 messages into the Marketing folder").
- Sample — a handful of those matched emails (sender, subject, date) so you can see whether the rule is doing what you expect.
- Rule text — the conditions in plain English, expandable to the raw form if you want to inspect it.
You approve or reject rules in batches based on the preview. You can disable, edit, or delete any installed rule at any time from your AI for Mail dashboard or directly in Fastmail.
Because the preview is your unit of judgment — what the rule actually does, on your actual mail, before it takes effect — we do not guarantee that any AI classification is correct in the abstract, and we make no representation that following our suggestions will produce a particular outcome. You are responsible for the rules you approve.
7. Third-party services
AI for Mail depends on third-party services to operate, listed in section 5 of the Privacy Policy. If a third-party service experiences an outage or changes its terms, our ability to deliver the service may be affected. We are not responsible for the actions, policies, or outages of third-party services.
8. Subscriptions and payment
AI for Mail is a paid subscription. Specific pricing, plan limits, and payment terms are presented in the signup flow at the time you create an account.
Subscriptions are billed in advance for each billing period and automatically renew until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not refund partial billing periods.
If a payment fails, we may suspend the service after a reasonable grace period. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers; pricing changes take effect at the next renewal.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from settings. Data deletion follows the schedule in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if your subscription lapses, or if continued operation would expose Veridit AS to legal risk. Where practical we give notice and an opportunity to cure.
10. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, AI for Mail is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, that AI outputs will be accurate, or that the service will meet any specific requirement. Norwegian consumer protection rules apply where they would give you stronger rights than this clause; nothing here is intended to override them.
11. Limitation of liability
The service operates on a preview-then-approve model: before any rule changes your mailbox, you see its effect on real messages (section 6) and you choose whether to install it. Subscriptions are billed monthly with no penalty for cancellation. The combination is intentional — we make it cheap and visible to back out.
To the extent permitted by Norwegian law, Veridit AS is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising from your use of AI for Mail. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these terms or the service is limited to the fees you paid for the most recent monthly billing period.
Norwegian consumer protection rules apply where they would give you stronger rights than this clause. Nothing here is intended to limit liability for damages caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes are announced via email to active subscribers at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept the changes, you may cancel before they take effect.
13. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or the service is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Oslo tingrett, except where Norwegian consumer protection rules require otherwise.
